Harness Expanse’s Full Capabilities

Expanse is designed to make working with AI as simple and efficient as possible. This guide outlines all the features, shortcuts, tips, and tricks that can make your AI workflows faster, easier, and more productive.

Organizing Spaces, Roles & Prompts

Key Features

Spaces are workspaces that contains related Roles and Prompts (e.g schoolwork).

Roles are the personas that you want the AI to take on to do your work (e.g. teacher).

Prompts are specific commands for the AI (e.g “make a student quiz”).

Creating and Customizing Space Settings

Customize how AI works with each of your workflows by configuring your Spaces’s default settings. This ensures consistency of AI responses and saves you time by automatically applying your preferred setup to every new Thread created in the Space.

What you can customize:

Creating a New Space

  1. Click the + button in the left side bar and select Space
  2. Enter the name of your Space
  3. Click on the White Dot beside the Space Title to give your Space an icon
  4. Customize the default Role, LLM and Temperature to suit your preferences
  5. Click save or hit enter / return to create your new Space

Pro Tip: Different Spaces may require different setups to get the optimal AI behavior. For example, use lower temperatures (0) for technical documentation or coding, and higher temperatures (0.7-0.9) for creative writing or ideation.

Here you can also edit your Space’s:

  1. Name - Give your Space a clear title that reflects its purpose
  2. Icon - Choose an emoji to help find your Space at a glance
  3. Description - Optional information/notes to describe the purpose of the Space

Deleting Spaces

You can delete a Space at any time.

Note: The only Space that you cannot delete is the first one that was created by Expanse. This is because that Space is needed for the app to run, and so while you can’t delete it, you can still customize all the Space Settings, Prompts and Roles.

Rearranging Spaces

Organizing and prioritizing your Spaces makes your workflows simpler to navigate and use. You can rearrange the order that your spaces show in the sidebar by dragging and dropping the icons of the Space.

You can also quickly switch between spaces by using the shortcut ⌘/Ctrl + {number that the space is in}. Simply hover over any Space icon in the side bar to see its shortcut number.
