What File Types are supported?

In Expanse you can attach files to LLMs with Vision.

What is the File Upload Limit?

Text-based files are limited to 10MB per file. You can upload as many files as you like. Image files have no upload limit size, however, you can only upload a maximum of 5 images per message.

Does Expanse have memory?

Unlike most LLMs which save all messages to a central memory, Expanse holds memory for each thread; this takes up less data, reduces any misuse of context and also allows the app to run lighter and faster on more devices. We also have a Chat/Focus mode which allows you to toggle the Thread’s memory on/off. This is especially useful to reduce LLMs becoming confused by too much context and hallucinating (creating responses that are not factually correct).

Security & Privacy

Is Expanse safe to download?

Yes, Expanse is completely safe. Some antivirus programs may flag it as a false positive due to our app's automatic updater technology (built with Tauri), which certain security software doesn't recognize yet. This is a known issue affecting many legitimate applications. All Expanse files are digitally signed with Microsoft-approved EV certificates.

If you already had Expanse downloaded but get a warning, it’s because we would’ve just released the latest version a few hours ago so anti-virus seems to pick up the new files as a false positive due to the lack of people running the new version.

Is my data secure?

At Expanse, we don’t store or train on any of your data (the only data we keep is your email for account management). All our LLMs operate under commercial APIs with strict no-data-storage policies. This ensures that your data is fully protected from any decryption, viewing, acquisition, or redistribution to third parties. See our full privacy policy below for complete details.
